Nagsasa Cove
Zambales, San Antonio Pundaquit
June 7-8 2008
A.M.O.C Mountaineering Club exploration at the Nagsasa Cove

Its Zambales Madness! we cant get enough of the beautiful islands of Zamabales in San Antonio, Pundaquit. Finally we had reached this beautiful island of Nagsasa Cove. It was originally scheduled last May but due to typhoon "COSME" it was postponed. Nagsasa Cove is much better than Anawangin Island, the scenery of its landscapes, the refreshing blue and crystal clear waters of the beach, additional show of the flying fish, beautiful background of Mt. Balingkilat a.k.a pointed peak, the warm and accomodating people of nagsasa (the aetas) who helped us to fetched water for our cooking, for our dishes and for taking a bath, and you can feel the morning breeze. Nagsasa Cove is a peaceful and a quite place unlike the Anawangin Island wich is crowded during the summer season, here you can relax and appreciate the beauty of nature. This place is full of surprise...

Fort Santiago, Intramuros Manila
May 31, 2008

Fort Santiago (Fuerza de Santiago) is a defense fortress built for Spanish conquistador, Miguel López de Legazpi. The fort is part of the structures of the walled city of Intramuros, in Manila, Philippines.

The location of Fort Santiago was also once the site of the palace and kingdom of Rajah Suliman, chieftain of Manila of pre-Spanish era. It was destroyed by the conquistadors upon arriving in 1570, encountering several bloody battles with the Muslims and native Tagalogs. The Spaniards destroyed the native settlements and erected Fuerza de Santiago in 1571.

The first fort was made out of log structures and earth. Most of it was destroyed in the Spanish-Chinese War of (1574-1575), by invaders of ethnic Chinese pirates who besieged the area. The Spaniards fought a bloody conflict and eventually drove the pirates out. In 1589 the fort was constructed with hard stone and finished in 1592. It became the main fort for travels an...

The climbers, braving gusty winds and freezing windchill, relayed the flame -- ignited from the main Olympic flame, now making a course across China en route to host city Beijing -- to the summit by 9:15 a.m. (9:15 p.m. ET Wednesday), about two hours ahead of schedule. "They were very motivated; they were very excited," journalist Tomas Etzler said from the Everest base camp at 5,360 meters (17,600 ft). Company Outing
Subic, Anvaya Cove
May 3, 2008

Anvaya Cove is Ayala Land, Inc.'s first and grandest leisure community in the region. It is envisioned to be a place where families will be brought closer together through a uniquely natural leisure experience. It is a 320 hectare property comprised of forested foothills rolling down from a backdrop of mountains to meet the sea. At its heart is the Beach and Nature Club, which is surrounded by several neighborhoods for vacation and retirement homes. These lots and houses are thoughtfully integrated with the landscape and capitalize on the site's natural beauty. Ownership of a Beach and Nature Club share is a prerequisite for owning a real estate product.

This 320-hectare residential-resort community will be divided into three clusters, further subdivided into neighborhoods. The first neighborhood, The Cliffside is situated in the most visually dramatic area of the site. Perched on a promontory at the southern end of the site's ma...

Height of waterfalls: 90 meters

It cannot be denied that the Pagsanjan experience - the banca ride, the rafting trip to the falls, and the magnificent views of the gorges is still the best Magdapio falls treat. However, an exciting alternative has opened up in Feb. 24, 2007- a land route to the falls. The mayor of Cavinti developed a 'Cavinti Eco-Park' which sits at the origin of the falls, containing excellent facilities. It seems to be a well-developed site! A 15-minute trek down a cemented path will take you to the first waterfalls: the Nakulo Falls and the 'First Falls'. Then, after two great viewdecks seeing the majestic plummeting of waters of these falls, you will be asked to wear a harness and rappel ...

Mt. Banahaw de Lucban is one mountain where the challenge does not lie in the steepness or length of the trails, but in the flora and fauna thereof. Its misty forest has an immaculate quality when viewed in pictures, but it is actually a wild jungle: trees and views grow in an anarchic fashion, obstructing the trails and creating a obstacle course, decked with infinite thorns and spikes. Meanwhile, different species of blood leeches pose a constant menace: the green-striped leech (seen in photo) is known as bulalangwan and is notorious for attacking soft tissues. Wild boar, deer, and monkeys have been sighted in the forest; its rich biodiversity has gained scientific interest. This environment is uninterrupted...
